Well, sadly, today was another drab day in CA. Man! Who would have guessed?! Definitely not me. I think today was the coldest day so far...and I have no idea how cold it was. Cold enough that I wish I had my coat with me...instead of leaving it in my vehicle at the airport.
No sight seeing or touring around the area, since it was cold, windy, and raining. But Jessica and I did got to The Fish Market. What did I have for supper???? Chicken. Yup. That's me. Not a fan of fish, don't like the smell of fish, and didn't want to try any fish. Yes, I know the chicken was grilled on the same place where the fish was, but it didn't taste like fish. :)
With this training, we have been split up in to different groups, with the task of coming up with a project to possibly implement in to our program. Our group name is The Early Birds. While looking for a little picture to put on the PowerPoint I put together, here is what I found.
I found it on google images. I thought it was fun, would interest students, and it fit perfectly with the design layout I used for the slides. Now I have the desire to craft something like this for someone. Any takers??

California Dreaming, Day 3
Well, day 3 in California. The day was spent mostly inside. The training was from 8am-6pm today. I did step outside about 3 times to enjoy the sun and to wake myself up....but that was about it. By the time 6pm rolled around, it was raining, windy, and rather chilly.
It wasn't a very picture worthy day. So no official picture from today. But here's a picture from the last time I was in the area....actually in La Jolla in 2007.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Just too bad it will be another long day indoors. 8am-5:30pm. Oh well. I guess that is why I am here....and I need to remember that.

California Dreaming, Day 2
On Monday, our traning didn't start until 2p, with check in beginning at 1p. With the free time in the morning, Jessica and I decided to make the most of it. The shuttle driver today was great! We weren't sure where we were going to go for breakfast, so he dropped us off at a great place called Pipes. I had the egg scrambler with bacon and a glass of milk. It costs about $7 total. And here's the amount of food I got. (Jessica's scrambler is in view as well.)
In the end, I ate just under half of what is on the plate. There was so much food! But it was delicious! It was a perfect breakfast for a couple of Iowa girls that enjoy some good food.
We eventually made our way to the design district on Cedros Avenue, in Solana Beach. There were some fabulous stores there. Jessica and I had lots of fun looking around and enjoying the morning. And yes, we did pick up a few fun purchases. I was a chicken and did not take pictures like I wanted. This area can get rather pricey for items...so we just enjoyed looking at most things. There were some fun lamps and pillows that we want to try to copy...and it makes me wish I would have taken pictures.
Two of our favorite stores....Solo and Leaping Lotus. If you are ever in the San Diego area, be sure to visit this district...and especially these stores. You will not be disappointed.
Eventually we made our way back to the hotel, for the beginning of our training, since that is why we are here. :) It was a great introduction, and I'm looking forward to what we will learn and want to implement with our own program.
After supper, Jessica and I finally made our way to the beach. BEAUTIFUL!!

California Dreaming, Day 1
Too early on Sunday morning, I flew out to San Diego, CA for a work training. The training is actually located in Del Mar...just north of San Diego. My friend/co-worker Jessica and I landed about 12:30pm, but didn't get to our hotel until after1:30pm. We did venture out when we got here for lunch, and then again for supper.
On our walk back to the hotel from lunch, we came across some neat flowers/bushes/plants.
I'm sure it was obvious to the people driving by, since these flowers were right along the sidewalk by the road, that we were not from around here. We are definitely tourists. Oh well. The flowers were something new and unique to us.
Even though the weather in CA when we arrived here was great....it almost seemed like it was a little cooler than it was in Iowa! Who would have imagined that! Definitely not us.
The night ended with a nice rain shower. I guess rain is something that doesn't happen often here, so it was a good thing it rained. Since we don't have a vehicle, we were able to utilize the hotel shuttle. That was much better than walking in the rain! We enjoyed some California Pizza Kitchen pizza. It was some tasty pizza! Too bad there aren't any of them located in Iowa. I would love to eat there again.
