Switch-A-Room

Yesterday, my friend Joy came over to help
redecorate my living room wall and as well as my bedroom.

The living room wall looks fantastic!  I love it!

Ladder:  Rescued Junk
'COUNTRY' & big cream frame:  The Prairie Chick
'6' Grater Wall Hanging:  Junk Refunkery
Swag with bells:  Julieann's

But, at some point, I was talked in to swapping my craft room with my bedroom.

The reason....
My bedroom is huge!
Craft room is smaller.

Since I have more craft junk and stuff than bedroom stuff,
it seemed like a great idea.

However, have you ever tried swapping 2 rooms,
when you don't have much room to put stuff inbetween the move?

HOLY COW!  It's tough!

But it's a good thing my basement neighbor joined in on the fun,
took a self portrait with my iPhone,
and helped out with everything.

Before things could get moved, the 'stuff' started getting pulled out of the craft room
for me to sort through, throw, give away, and pile up to sell.

NOT FUN.

The job isn't complete yet, but it's closer!

Once it's all said and done, I will share.

But in the mean time, do you need anything from the pile of 'stuff'?

Thanks Joy & Amy for your amazing help!
This would not have happened without them.

Well, I'm not sure yet if I should thank them or blame them for all this.

Cleaning Craze!

Finally!

I have gotten in to the cleaning groove.  :)

It makes it easier when I have friends that help out.

My friend Joy and I have planned to help each other until both of our places have been cleaned, purged, and stuff sold/donated/thrown.

She came over Saturday afternoon.  I went to her place this afternoon.

Yup.  This is good.

Now I'm on this kick to just sell everything!

While going through my clothes again, Joy had a fabulous idea.

Joy's Tip:
Take pictures of the 'sell clothes' as you pull them out of your closet, drawers, etc.
Then fold them up.

One thing I would do differently:
Write down the Brand & Size {& maybe Color & Description} as you go,
right after you take the picture.

Once I got all the pictures loaded to my computer.....

{A photo of my computer screen. I used Picasa to load photos to my computer.  And the screen shot was just too fun and colorful to not take a picture.}  :)

I then had to go back through and get the brand name and size written down,
since I didn't do that before.

All the clothes had to be handled again.

But, for some reason a few of the items didn't load.
So maybe it was a good thing that I had to go through them all again.

So, if you want to go shopping in my place for clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, decorations.....come on over!
I'll even treat you to a slice of chocolate pudding cheesecake.  :)

Now I have a pile of 'SELL!'...and am hoping it sells soon!

The town I live in, as well as at least another local town, have Facebook pages where you can post things to sell.  What a great idea!  It makes it easy to deliver or pick up things.

I have a bag full of tshirts that will be donated to a local clothing closet as well.

Maybe cleaning can be fun!  :)

Fall Cleaning - 1

FALLCLEANING

Today, with my addition little house guest, I am attempting to get some fall cleaning done.

I am so bad with this! I start in one room, find something that needs to get put in another room, get distracted with something else in the other room, start cleaning there, and before I know it, I went from cleaning my bedroom to cleaning out my pantry. Yup. That just happened. I think it happened because I asked Mya what she wanted for lunch. So since I was getting food out, I might as well start cleaning, right?

I guess so. But, it is coming along. I think I can see the clean and organized place behind all of this mess!

Time To Declutter!

Spring is just around the corner, I have done a little redecorating that inspires me to clean, and what better time to declutter than now??

After my school visit yesterday, I turned on the tv while I was working on things, and had it turned to the Oprah show. Believe it or not, I enjoyed the segment. It was the beginning of a new series, Clean Up Your Messy House Tour. I really enjoyed it, and learned a lot from the 1 hour show. One area that is definitely easy to declutter is the closet! Well, that could include a linen closet, coat closet, bedroom closets, and any other closets you might have. They were big on if you haven't used it in 12 months, get rid of it. (Get rid....donate, yard sale, recycle, or throw if not worthy of either.)

One tip that really popped at me was when they showed a closet that was cleaned up. All the hangers were put on the rod backwards. That's right.....every single hanger in the closet was backwards. The reason for Peter Walsh doing this is because he said 'you wear 20 percent of your clothes 80 percent of the time'. Then, as you wear an item, turn the hanger around the right way. If after 6 months, you still have some hangers in your closet that are backwards, decide if you will really wear them, or if you should donate or sell them. I think that is a great idea. I hope to implement it starting next week (since I am heading to the farm for the weekend).

As I make progress, I'll attempt to take before and after pictures. But let me warn you...the before pictures won't be nice...especially in my craft/catch ALL room.

Happy cleaning and decluttering to you all!
